In the latest education news, the Punjab Education Department has decided to stop giving free books to students. Before this, students in classes from Nursery to 10th grade used to get free textbooks from their schools. But now, there have been some new changes.
Beginning this year, just 50 percent of students in grades six to ten and 80 percent of fourth and fifth graders will be given free books. The rest of the books for all schools will be gathered from students who have passed their classes this year.
The Ministry of Interior wants all schools closed because they’re worried about safety. They’ve asked the Punjab Education Department to make it happen. If Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi gives the thumbs up, schools and colleges will be shut from January 25 to January 28, 2024.
